Our Church History

Greater Harvest Christian Center was founded on July 6, 2009. The name was given to our Pastor Daryl Johnson 7 years before it's existence. The vision for the church was to be a place where people could be challenged to change their lives.

We started in a suite that was about 3000 sq.ft and it was the perfect space that could be used for multi-purposes and many church activities. The membership was not large, but determined to make a difference in the community of Huber Heights, OH.

The first community project we joined is a consortium of churches in the area, that is called Project One, that is responsible for feeding the community. It is each church's responsibility to take one day in a month to sponsor a community meal. It is for everyone that lives in the community. We were proud that we joined and would be serving dinner just 2 months after our inception. with the vision that God has given to our Pastor and First Lady.

Our first service was held on July 26, 2009 , started with Sunday School at 10 am and the first lesson taught by our First Lady Tammy Johnson. The lesson "The Beginning of The the Gospel" (Mark 1:9-26.) The first sermon title was " The Necessity of The Holy Ghost" (John 3:1-6) taught by our own Pastor Daryl Johnson. It was a great service and we had all but 5 chairs filled for service. We had great response even had family and friends to travel from Michigan and Fla. We really appreciated that.

"A church where people are challenged to change"

Statement of Faith

  • We believe the Bible to be inspired and only infallible written Word of God.
  • We believe that there is one God, eternallyexsisitent in three Person, God the Father , God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit
  • We believe in the Blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church Of God, which is in Christ at His return.
  • We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin, is through repentance, faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ and being baptized in water.
  • We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
  • We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing in prayer
  • We believe that the baptism of the Holy Ghost, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who asks for it.
  • We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a Holy and separated life in this present world, Amen

The Beginning of the Harvest

We have joined a consortium of churches in Huber Heights, Oh. It is called Project One, where the churches in the community, sponsor a community meal. There is no income limit, or any guidelines, it is free for everyone. Our first meeting was with the leaders of the churches that are involved on June 13th at Huber Heights Church of God.

We had a guest speaker from Springfield, OH. that is doing the same program there. His church is doing a meal every week, because it has grown and  it is in great demand in the community. They do a short message in between and have had great response to the message, their have been souls saved, delivered and reclaimed. There is a two-fold purpose to feed and give the message of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Daryl and First Lady Tammy and their family joined the community in the dinner that was held at Huber Heights Church of God on June 15th. The crowd was nice and they were being served by the volunteers that day. We observed how they were operating and it ran smoothly.

When the community came in there was a greeter with a smile and ready to answer any questions. One of the best parts of the meal is that  they were asked if there were any prayer request or needs to be met. The community responded well and left prayer request and some individuals needs with the volunteers.

Our job as a body of Christ isn't only to provide a place to worship, but it's to help our community and give the same news about Jesus that we received one day and brought us to where we are, BLESSED
